I'd like to see a specific proposal, along with an actual patch to afsd.c. Surely someone cares enough about this to come up with something?
The main issue here seems to be "what should we change", and that boils down to "what are the defaults now". I know that I'm not qualified to answer any of those questions, but if people are more likely to speak up if I start to ramble incoherently guessing what should be changed and what should be left please tell me so and I'll try to throw together something that we can have a flamewar about ;)
Hacking up a patch shouldn't take too many minutes since it's mostly about changing existing defaults...
