I've been noticeing problems when I have the 'famd' daemon running.. I am using AFS home directories, and after a few minutes, anything accessing AFS hangs until I kill the famd daemon.

I've seen this with 2.6.13 kernels and 1.4.0-rc-series openafs releases.

Any idea what's going on?

Ugh, famd. This sounds vaguely like an OpenAFS bug, but still, I would remove famd if at all possible. It seems to cause more problems than it solves; I've had it hang chewing 100% CPU numerous times, both on AFS systems and on plain-vanilla ext3 systems.
