 Thanks for your reply! Here are my replies to your questions:

That fixed it!! I was sym linking the wrong file to my /etc/init.d
directory! I went online and found SOURCES/opeafs-client.init for Fedora
Core 3 for openafs-1.4.1 and then I copied that to /etc/init.d/afs and then
executed:

sudo /sbin/service afs start


And now everything is working great! Thanks very much for your help!
