Hi Derek!

You tried to infer too much and failed ;-)

Um, why are you trying to patch your kernel sources?
The 'diff' is between OpenAFS revisions, it lets you "patch"
your existing OpenAFS source tree up to the new version.

You probably just want the tarball, not the patch.

Well, no. What I'm trying to do is to take the Debian openafs-modules- source package and patch it from 1.4.2 to 1.4.3rc1. That's why the openafs/ directory is located inside a directory named linux-<verion>- modules: it gets built using

MODULE_LOC=/path/to/linux-<version>-modules make-kpkg [...] modules

from the corresponding linux-<version> kernel source tree. Of course I could download both tarballs and produce the desired diff myself, but I think that's quite a waste of bandwidth... So, can anyone please explain how to use that diff?

The reason I'm trying this in the first place is that with linux-2.6.19.2 (kernel.org) I cannot login using KDE or gnome ($HOME in afs): several processes hang in afs_accessOK, looks pretty much like a dead lock. BTW: I've had to apply the tasklist_lock related patch posted previously to make the module load at all, is that still needed in 1.4.3rc1?

Ciao,
                    Roland
