I was going to diff it out and forward-port it, but, i haven't had time.
and honestly i don't know when i will, which is a shame.
To make life easier for you I have now integrated my changes into the
1.5.x branch which I checked out on 9th of May. I hope on Monday to be
through. Then I will send the changes in form of "diff -ru".
