Ran into the most interesting situation today while testing...$ touch `perl 'print "A" x 256;'` The file gets created all right, but I can't remove it or do anything else to it. Salvaging the partition merely reports that 05/05/2008 15:05:44 Dir entry 65a38 in chain 0 has too-long name. This is on IBM AFS 3.6 2.5 something servers. It's only in my home directory, so not much of an issue. But...?
Atro: What is your question? This is the OpenAFS Developers mailing list. Do you have a question associated with developing an OpenAFS patch, design feature, etc.? If not, the question should be sent to [EMAIL PROTECTED] That said, I can't figure out what question you are trying to ask. Is it one of the following? 1. Does the OpenAFS file server permit file names to be created that are 256 octets long? 2. Does the OpenAFS file server permit files to be created that cannot be accessed or deleted? 3. Does the OpenAFS client for platform ___________ permit files to be accessed with names that are 256 octets long? 4. Does the OpenAFS salvager know how to deal with files whose names are 256 octets long? 5. Can OpenAFS file a bug with IBM regarding this issue and provide me with a fix? Jeffrey Altman
