Apparently there's a function in db_verify (which we also don't install by
default) that dumps the database in the form of a script for ptclient to
create it, which is sort of interesting if it actually works.

I seem to recall using that, many years ago, to recover from a corrupted PRDB. My recollection is that the output of db_verify was actually not directly suitable for use as input to ptclient, and that a fair bit of manual massaging was necessary to make everything work.

Today, my recommendation would be to use pt_util for PRDB backups and restores.
