[cross-posted to openafs-doc and openafs-devel]

After reading Bruce Perens report on the outcome of Jacobsen v Katzer,
http://itmanagement.earthweb.com/features/article.php/3866316/Bruce-Perens-Inside-Open-Sources-Historic-Victory.htm,
and in particular his testimony to the court,
http://perens.com/work/testimony/PerensJMRI.pdf, I wondered if OpenAFS
could be doing a better job at providing attribution that could be seen
by end users. As a file system this is difficult. However, Derrick
came up with the following idea that I believe would be worth implementing:

  * create a new man page called "openafs"

  * link to the "openafs" man page from all other afs man pages

  * the "openafs" man page would contain

. a history of the openafs project

. pointers to the important web pages

. credits for all contributors (and perhaps a pointer to
      https://www.ohloh.net/p/openafs/contributors to catch
      any we have missed)

For Unix this would result in easy access to the information from all
man pages. For Windows, the generated page could be linked into the
Release Notes Windows Help file.

Thoughts? Volunteers?
