Quoting Jeffrey Hutzelman <[email protected]>:
Do it!
But don't forget that the database servers are not yet pthread-ready.
Is this going to be a -lot- of work? or is this something more trivial?
If it is a -lot- of work, I would think a complete rewrite might be
better, and if there was going to be a database format or backend db
change like libs or adding hooks to a sql/ldap type of server, now
seems like a reasonable time to add it.(even if it is just adding the
hooks or extending the db structure) (summer of code maybe?)
Also has anyone fired up a cell in virtual machines, then run the vm
instances under valgrind running a test suite to look for various
issues? It might catch some threading issues and race conditions.
Might also be a fun summer of code type of project if someone hasn't.
*shrugs*
