Dear Sir/Ma'am, I hope this message finds you well.
My name is Akarshi Sinha, and I’m currently a third-year undergraduate student pursuing B.Tech in Information Technology. I’ve been a Linux user for almost a decade and have gained hands-on experience with shell scripting, system programming in C, and tools like bash, zsh, and various Unix utilities as part of both personal projects and coursework. I recently submitted a proposal for Google Summer of Code 2025 titled “OpenAFS Command-line Completion.” The core idea behind this project is to enhance the user experience by implementing comprehensive shell completion support (for Bash and Zsh) to OpenAFS’s command-line tools (vos, fs, pts etc), while also developing a parser to automate and simplify the maintenance of these completion scripts as the codebase evolves. I had intended to reach out earlier, but my end-semester exams unfortunately got delayed and coincided with the GSoC application period. I realize the importance of early communication and regret not reaching out prior to submission. However, I have put in sincere effort to understand the requirements and draft a proposal that aligns well with the goals of the OpenAFS project. Your guidance would be invaluable to me, and I remain genuinely enthusiastic about contributing to OpenAFS, both during GSoC and beyond. Thank you very much for your time and consideration. I look forward to the opportunity to learn from and work with the OpenAFS community. Warm regards, Sincerely, Akarshi Sinha
