Could you send _MORE_ of the error here, like the actual compilation
problem?  This message tells me only that the problem was in compiling
afs_dir.o; but it doesn't give me ANY information about what was
failing?

I presume that you have the 2.4.3-12 kernel-source RPM installed?

PS: I'm not surprised the 2.4.2 modules don't work.
