Spinnaker's product is not AFS, though it does have a few similarities.
Architecturally, it has a _lot_ of similarities. Some of the key designers were some of the same people who designed AFS, and it shows. However, you're right; it neither shares code with any AFS implementation nor speaks the same protocols.
