I currently have one (desktop) server running Red Hat Linux 9 and AFS. My /vicepa partition is a RAID 1 array consisting of 2 IDE disks on a RAID controller. I'm fairly confident that I'll never have an instance where both disks crash at the same time (barring a fire or other act of God), so my /vicepa is at negligible risk of data loss. The problem I have is that the OS, AFS binaries, and AFS configuration files are all on a separate (and rather old) IDE disk, which is not mirrored or backed up in any way. In the event that this disk fails and I'm forced to reinstall Linux and AFS on a new disk, how difficult (if at all feasible) is it to bring the volumes on the RAID back online? What would I need to do in order to accomplish this?
Downtime is not an issue. My only concern is preserving the data on the RAID and (eventually) regaining access to it. Rich _______________________________________________ OpenAFS-info mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.openafs.org/mailman/listinfo/openafs-info
