Our client who services internet storage service uses 30+ Tera Bytes of storage with
18 file servers and 28 client servers(which servces files using SOAP based service
daemon).
They use Linux and Xeon based servers. File sizes are mostly over 600+ MB and memory
based caching is used. Network is gigabit based. Hope this can help.

Subject: [OpenAFS] Any feedback on an AFS fileserver serving very large volumes?
Based on some encouraging rumours, we are thinking about trying out
an AFS fileserver to serve very large volumes, 100gb+. Does anyone
who has tried this, or thought about it, have any feedback regarding:
1. (solaris) hardware best suited for this, both cpu and storage
2. size of partitions
3. options on the fileserver and volserver processes
4. client considerations such as cache size and afsd options
5. the largest volume you've tried and any stories about
moving or backing it up
6. performance of the server
7. anything else of interest
Thanks in advance,
Renata
