Ok, assume that I don't know the first thing about AFS and I want to map a drive.
The drive letter I want is J: and I want it to be mapped to
/afs/afs-2.csc.depauw.edu/home/cowboy on neptune.csc.depauw.edu that serves the
cell afs-2.csc.depauw.edu
How do I do that ?

Search for the section "Basic Mounting Syntax"
It's already old. It needs to be updated, but has the basics. The latest client uses the new syntax where you specify "\\afs\..." instead of "\\hostname-afs\...".
