David: It fails because your Checkpoint VPN software used at ASU prevents modifications to the network configuration. I have informed others at ASU about this when the question was raised. Please speak with those who license this software and have them file a bug report. In the meantime, uninstall the VPN software, install the loopback and then re-install the VPN. Jeffrey Altman
