Hello.

I'm using AFS' backup programs and have a bunch of tapes on the shelf that I know nothing about (aside from their labels). Is there an easy way to determine which of these tapes are expired and may be safely reused?

Thanks!

If you try to use them in a dump the backup database will declare them "not expired" if they are still within your backup expiration window. You can put them in and use scantape to see whats on them.
Or you can nuke 'em with a Bulk eraser.
