I'd vote for distributing it in both .bz2 & .gz forms. .bz2 is much more
efficient for compressing text, however, it isn't ubiquitous yet.
We've done this in the past, but for some reason not revealed to me, the
gatekeeper(s) who did the release chose not to generate gzip'd versions of
1.3.85. It's possible this was just an oversight; to find out why, you'd
have to ask them...
