The fsck reported an inode problem during reboot after the system hung.

Interestingly the system responds to pings but am unable to ssh into it from
another box.

The hang is not immediate.

So you ended up with a corrupt superblock, maybe? I thought we fixed a
problem like this, which occurred when you unmounted a cache from under an
