Cheerfully reporting that the openafs-buildall.sh script works just fine in the 1.4.0 release. After modifying my kickstart install script to look for an installed kernel-smp and install openafs-kernel-smp if it is there everything except aklog is working on both my UP and SMP RHEL AS 4 test boxes.

Ahh, I thought I fixed this bug prior to 1.4.0rc5, but apparantly not. It's
been fixed in the 1.4.0 release RPMs. The rc5 (and prior) RPMS were
incorrectly stripping off the kernel type in 2.6 kernels, so it wasn't building
an SMP module when you're running an SMP kernel. That's been fixed. My
appologies for that.

You can try using the openafs-buildall.sh script which should work properly.

In your case, `uname -a` is reporting a UP kernel, so it's building a
UP module. This is not a bug.

ELsmp means a UP kernel?

Linux kick0.ee.washington.edu 2.6.9-22.ELsmp #1 SMP Mon Sep 19 18:00:54 EDT 2005 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Sorry, I missed that. Umm... which SRPM did you start with?
