Title: OpenAFS and OpenDocuments

Will the *nix client support byte range locking?

The gathering momentum of the OpenDocument standard to facilitate Linux Desktops generates a requirement for collaborative editing, etc.

See http://news.zdnet.com/2100-3513_22-5979150.html?tag=zdfd.newsfeed for the IBM announcement.

AFS is useful to technical travellers who:

1. Can't physically cart all their required data on a laptop.
2. Need to distribute the data to users in near real time from remote locations

I would like the Windows and *nix clients kept in sync if possible.
