Yes, I know the thought of something like that probably makes many of you ill. Unfortunately the networking people here aren't budging on letting me have two IP's for the same machine, and I need to get things up and running soon.
The idea is to have two machines on the same 100mbit switch (extremely fast connectivity to each other), each serving AFS for a different cell. The unusual part is that since one of the machines has a gigantic amount of disk, I want the other one to NFS-mount some part of that on /vicepa and use it to store all the AFS data. I know there's a special "gotcha" with running afsd on a reiserfs filesystem... are there any similar gotchas or filesystem requirements for the fileserver process? Total protonic reversal [1] perhaps? That would be bad.
