There is no released client for Tiger,Yes, that's why I'm interested in a kludge like cranking down the timeout. At least until there is a released client.
RX timeouts would not have fixed any of the afs/finder hangs that have existed in tiger. They were the result of deadlocks and race conditions, not network or server problems. While it may be the case that what you are seeing now could be worked around with a low dead timer, that would be because it isn't a problem with the tiger client itself, but the server.
