"bos removehost" is used to remove an entry from the server
/usr/afs/etc/CellServDB file, not to remove a fileserver from a list
"vos listaddr" gives a list of fileservers that have (or have had)
entries in the cell's VLDB.
"vos changeaddr -remove" can be used to cull the "vos listaddr" list if
you retire a fileserver.
None of these are particularly relevant to the output of "fs getserverprefs"

The server list produced by "fs getserverprefs" does not necessarily
indicate that the listed "file servers" are registered in your vldb.
The "fs getserverprefs" output lists known file servers without any
cell information (so you don't know what cell they belong to) nor
does it indicate how they were added to the list:
(1) vldb lookup
(2) "fs setserverprefs" command
nor does it indicate the reason they were added. The default ranks
associated with a file server are allocation as follows:
5000 /* on same machine */
20000 /* on same subnet */
30000 /* on same network */
40000 /* on different networks */
You might want to execute "fs listcells" to see if you contacted
another cell at any point.

Hi!
I recognized some strange servers in my OpenAFS cell.
I run the afsss.pl srcipt to get a overview of my servers and volumes.
Til yesterday it worked quite well.
But today it gives me some errors:
querying servers for partitions: 172...rxi_sendmsg failed, error 22
So I looked out and searched for probs and found two registered servers
which are NOT mine:
192.168.173.1
172.16.72.1
(fs listadr)
So, I know for sure there is NO 192.x or 172.x Computer in my subnet,
and absolut NO OpenAFS server wirhin my subnet with these IPs.
How did these servers get registered in my vldb?
And how do I delete them?
A bos removehost doesn't work because of "communication error", which is
correct, the IPs are not reachable.
And why are the server ranks so high?
fs getserverprefs
172.16.72.1 40007
192.168.173.1 40014
trinculo.cgv.tugraz.at 20010
phobos.cgv.tugraz.at 5005
deimos.cgv.tugraz.at 20008
oberon.cgv.tugraz.at 20008
Questions over questions,....
I use OpenAFS 1.4.0-3 on debian (servers and clients).
