Hi! Has anybody tried to use KDE's/Gnome's fam(d) with OpenAFS client? I keep getting strange crashes (the whole system freezes) with this combination. The machines in question behaved ok until openafs-client was installed, so my natural instincts are to blame openafs/fam-combo. This sounds a little like the Apple Finder -bug to me: both Finder and fam want to access files they do not necessarily have access to...
The systems' logs are filled with this just prior to the crash:
Feb 21 09:34:58 planck famd[4177]: client 5 invalid request number 618
The request number shoots up from few dozens to tens of thousands before
the crash. It also seems that the system only freezes if KDE is running,
but not with no "desktop environment" active (i.e. just fluxbox or some
other window manager).
Anybody had similar experiences? [Just checking here before filing a
bug...]
Cheers,
Juha
