I've actually got a decent amount of experience smuggling TCP
connections through evil proxies.  Getting them to flush your requests
properly is kind of a pain, but it can be done.

The worst ones refuse to send even a single POST byte until they've
gotten the client's entire POST payload, and refuse to return even a
single response byte until the server has given the proxy the entire
response payload.  Yes, this is stupid.  Downloading ISO images
through these sorts of proxies is obnoxious.
