It's a RW volume and I think the locking takes long because it have
many small files.

Ok, what are you locking? Again, remember, the vos command doesn't lock the volume, it locks the vldb. Clients don't care.

the comment, the client should had waited until the volume was ready.

be ready, so the compilation abort because of problems reading or
writing to the volume.

Right, which is why I want to see what's on the wire. What is the client getting which tells it is loses?
