 Hi all,
I am new to afs and tried to install an afs server on my Linux machine and Logical Volume Manager is used in my machine. When I try to start fs server, it complains, I don't how to go further, and my kaserver, buserver ,ptserver and vlserver runs ok. What's more the partition /vicep01 have no physical error. Only one difference is that /dev/mapper/VolGroup00-LogVol03 is mounted to /vicep01 with LVM but not the normal partion method,eg. /dev/sda1.

Hi,

the fileserver works fine on LVM, we do it for a long time here.
Your problem is the Mountpoint-name.
You can have up to 256 partitions, starting from /vicepa (0) up to /vicepz (25), then it goes on from /vicepaa(26), /vicepab, ... ,/vicepaz,/vicepba,vicepbb until at some letter-pair the number 256 is reached.
So, using /vicep01 is just wrong, use /vicepa instead.

Christof
