I didn't try. Meanwhile I've found to force a real
hard boot by
echo 1 > /proc/sys/kernel/sysrq
echo b > /proc/sysrq-trigger

A cmdebug showed nothing unusal.
Still, the first
 ls /afs/....

on the server machine itself,
hangs afs again. (and cmdebug
won't run anymore).

I noticed that when the openafs-client (on the
server machine) hangs now even the clients on other
machines hang as well.

So, probably, I have to disable the client on the server
machine until a solution is found.

Many thanks for additional hints,
Helmut.
