You don't need to set up a KDC, but you must make sure that the Linux server can kinit against the AD servers. Is there any reference to the old DB servers in /usr/vice/etc/CellServDB or /usr/afs/etc/CellServDB or /etc/openafs/CellServDB? If so remove the references to the old servers.
