I start with # /usr/openafs/sbin/bosserver &
by hand and then it normally runs and runs and runs. Sometimes Linux decides to crash on me, in that cases I don't need a shutdown script ;) I must admit that I have not had any urge to write a startup script. Such a beast should probably just start bosserver for startup and do a bos shutdown localhost -local followed by killing the bosserver. That should make a clean start possible again.
