I thought since the kernel says its SMP that I might need

That kernel is for 2.6.9-78-EL, not 2.6.9-78-0.13-EL
I think you probably want

openafs-smp-1.4.8-1.1.2.6.9_78.0.13.EL.x86_64.rpm
