When Spotlight is used to access index info on remote Leopard
systems it is sending a query to the metadata server on the
remote machine. AFS has no metadata server as a result there
is nothing for such a query to be sent to assuming that the
afs client could be programmed to receive the query in the
first place.

If you configure Spotlight on each machine to index /afs it
will try to index all of the /afs namespace from every machine.
This is probably not what they want.

I have sent a query to Apple asking whether there is a method
of AFS processing the queries so if/when we have our own
metadata service we can connect it to Spotlight.
