Lawrence Livermore's native ZFS for Linux is nearing completion. There are still performance issues, but they are apparently hoping for a Jan 2011 release. <http://zfsonlinux.org/>.

Note that I just read about this on slashdot <http://linux.slashdot.org/story/10/11/22/1433246/Running-ZFS-Natively-On-Linux-Slower-Than-Btrfs>, which along with the cruft its discussions are wont to have, touches on licensing issues. OpenAFS gets a mention (not by me).

Cheers, Stephen

Hi All,

I get a little bit confused over what to choose as the base file system for the
vice partitions.
If I use ext3 I get very long fsck times so I would like to use something else
like xfs.

Are there any preferred or do I even have a choice? I'm running on ext4 right
now.

I like zfs, but that of course limits you to Solaris or FreeBSD. (I
would not run an userspace file system for OpenAFS vicep*)
