Every probe is an RPC to the vldb and file servers that must be processed. There are a limited number of RPCs that can be processed in parallel. Increasing the frequency of probes from once every five minutes to once every 10 seconds will impact the performance of the servers and the clients that need to send them. Jeffrey Altman
