SL 6.1 has 1.6.0rc4, and it's in 6.0 fastbugs too.
I'll try to get 1.6.1 accepted into fastbugs once it's released and had a bit
of testing. This extra repository is available for the current SL release only
though (thus, 6.1 right now). It should also be in SL 6.2 (upstream beta was
announced yesterday).
In general, "yum update" will give you security fixes only. Other bug fixes and
feature releases are provided with SL minor releases.
If you'd like to follow OpenAFS releases more closely while using the SL
packages, let's discuss this on the sl-users or sl-devel list. It's unlikely
that the policy as described above will be changed, but we could certainly find
a way to make it possible.
Best regards,
Stephan
