We use the Red Hat EPEL supplied dkms package to automatically build new afs
kernel modules along with the dkms-openafs openafs-kernel-source rpms.
Recently the dkms rpm was updated in the EPEL Red Hat 5 repo from 2.1 to 2.2.
This breaks the building of the afs kernel modules. We use openafs 1.4.14, I
tried 1.6.0 and had the same issue.
I opened this bug on bugzilla in case anyone is interested:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=787801
You can add the following entry to /etc/yum.conf to ignore upgrading
dkms under the [main] section:
[main]
exclude=dkms-2*
