Sorry for not being more specific. Yes, I'm upgrading a Debian/OpenAFS server. Fortunately this is a hobby machine at home, not a production server with multiple high-end clients (that's my day job, with Windows ;)
I'm currently copying all my own data over to another server (whole different system), in case I botch it. I've only done one OpenAFS install and config, and I remember it seeming like it was going to be a very painstaking process but was pleasantly surprised that it was not so. Still, it's one of those things that "just works" at home, and aside from doing some basic user and file management I haven't had to do much. I remember having an issue with journaling, and I think I wound up turning that off on my filesystem. Another, a topic for another day perhaps. Thanks. P.S. Switched to plain text, hoping that it alleviates some of the text weirdness I seem to get when posting on this forum. --- On Thu, 4/4/13, [email protected] <[email protected]> wrote: From: [email protected] <[email protected]> Subject: OpenAFS-info digest, Vol 1 #6001 - 2 msgs To: [email protected] Date: Thursday, April 4, 2013, 12:01 PM Send OpenAFS-info mailing list submissions to [email protected] To subscribe or unsubscribe via the World Wide Web, visit https://lists.openafs.org/mailman/listinfo/openafs-info or, via email, send a message with subject or body 'help' to [email protected] You can reach the person managing the list at [email protected] When replying, please edit your Subject line so it is more specific than "Re: Contents of OpenAFS-info digest..." You get the second server working and vos move everything there. Then shutdown or rebuild the first server. It makes sense to just upgrade the first server and keep it. Then next time you want to upgrade it is a lot less work. If you do it this way you will want to use Russ Allbery's mvto: http://www.eyrie.org/~eagle/software/afs-admin-tools/mvto.html Bill --=20 Bill MacAllister Infrastructure Delivery Group, Stanford University --__--__-- _______________________________________________ OpenAFS-info mailing list [email protected] https://lists.openafs.org/mailman/listinfo/openafs-info End of OpenAFS-info Digest _______________________________________________ OpenAFS-info mailing list [email protected] https://lists.openafs.org/mailman/listinfo/openafs-info
