Thanks Dave. I'd just come up with basically the same repo config file. See https://wiki.ncsa.illinois.edu/display/ITS/OpenAFS+Install+via+RPM+for+RHEL+6 for the sample OpenAFS.repo file I'm using.
Note, the source repo that is referenced in 1.4.x repo configs no longer works with the 1.6.x releases. There doesn't appear to be repodata being generated for the source of the 1.6.x versions.
