Thanks for responding.
It actually took a few days for my original post to get through the moderation
queue, and in the meantime, I figured out what was wrong.
My prdb files had somehow gotten corrupted, which caused a chain reaction of
the server processes not being able to start properly.
To fix the problem, I used pt_util to dump the database files and reload them.
