I suppose the only good news is that in IPv6 only ::1/128 is loopback. So such "interesting" choices will hopefully not be propagated going forward (and there could come a time when one learns about IPv4 only in the history books, and understands some of the choices as lessons learned (to never do again)). FD: there was an IETF draft proposal to expand the IPv6 loopback space (but has already expired).
