We're currently running our OpenAFS 1.4 cell on a single set of servers. We're preparing to migrate file services from those machines onto a new set of machines, then later migrate the database services to a different set of machines.
Since these new boxes will only handle file services, is it safe to simply run OpenAFS 1.6 on those servers so we can take advantage of demand-attach and the enhanced salvager without needing to upgrade our database servers from 1.4 to 1.6 until a later time? I've been looking around, but I can't seem to find a 'yes you definitely can' or 'no don't do it'. Thanks for your assistance! /-- Tony D'Amato, RHCSA/RHCE Senior UNIX Systems Administrator Server Support Group, Information Technology Services Old Dominion University /
