I compiled the SRPM that's available on openafs.org for RHEL7 and it
works fine - I always want the kmod to match the running kernel rather
than relying on dkms, so that works for me.
That's what we do also.

Can anyone point me to a good source for OpenAFS RPMs for
RHEL7/Centos7 x86_64?
There aren't any; not that are public/official, anyway (unless you count
SL7). And that is because very few people have spent any time on getting
some available. I would suggest putting effort into the packaging effort
by the CentOS storage SIG if you (or anyone else) wants to help. They
communicate on the list
<http://lists.centos.org/mailman/listinfo/centos-devel> and a first pass
at the (userspace) packaging was put up here:
<https://github.com/gaurdro/openafs> (which I have suggested changes for
but haven't done yet).
