This should be addressed by the following upstream commit:
https://gerrit.openafs.org/#/c/13847/
which has been merged for 1.8.x and is scheduled for inclusion 
in 1.8.6 (see https://gerrit.openafs.org/#/c/14070/2/NEWS).
