thank you to Anders for swiftly updating ppa:openafs/stable to 1.8.9. I can confirm that the DKMS module for linux-generic-hwe-22.04-edge (5.19.0-28) builds and OpenAFS client works. The new hwe kernel expected before Ubuntu 22.04.2 should not break OpenAFS anymore.
