I've removed nearly all of the warnings, enabled
a few new ones and turned off a few, some temporarily.
With the currently-enabled set of warnings in configure.ac,
"make" gets 22 warnings. That's down from around 350.
Here are the sizes (counting lines) of the patches in this series.
You can see that most are tiny when you consider that they all
have a minimum of about 15 lines of header and trailer lines.
