is selinux disabled? (setenforce 0)  selinux + corosync will never work
on rhel unless you have a phd in selinux.

are you running as root?

usually config files go in /etc not /usr/etc.  did you override these
directories during configure?  Please use the prebuilt RHEL5 packages
from clusterlabs.org -  they should make things easier.

Run corosync -f and provide output

Use corosync 1.3.1 - it has significant bug fixes.
