Russell pointed out a problem with his recent patch for mutexes. It is only applicable to 1.4/1.3 branches. It is not applicable to master. Currently our policy is that all patches go into master, and 1 person is responsible for backports to other branches. This leaves out the important case above that Russell ran into.
As a result, if the patch is not suitable for master because of our de-threading of the software, please commit to flatron-1.4 and then git cherry-pick to flatiron-1.3 branch.
