Another thought occurred to me when looking at Noel's GUI tutorial… You could, 
for example, add the resolver and HTTP access to the GUI. This is optional, and 
very different from the underlying libopenbabel. (I think wxWidgets probably 
has HTTP client in the toolkit, so you wouldn't need HappyHTTP either.)

This would give a lot of the functionality for GUI users, but without needing 
to immediately resolve the issues in the library itself yet.
