Hi,

I don't think there is any chance tha OpenBabel license can change one
day. I had the same problem with GChemPaint and friends which I moved to
GPL-v3 so that I couldn't use OB as a library anymore. I now run
openbabel from a separate program with which the other apps communicate
through a socket (might be another mechanism). This little helper
program is licensed as GPL-v2, runs as a server (lauched when needed)
and closes itself after some inactivity time.
